Teams play an important role in Christian theology, and many Bible passages reference the importance of teamwork, such as Proverbs 27:17 (“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend”) and Hebrews 10:24 (“Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works”).[1]
Not to mention, there are plenty of examples of teamwork in the Bible, from the disciples who ministered in teams of two to the Israelites who worked together in the face of adversity to build a wall around Jerusalem.[2]
Christian team names can be competitive while still revealing your faith.

How to Create a Great Christian Team Name
Christian team names can be reverent, light-hearted, or inspirational.
Create an awesome, biblically-inspired name for your team using the following tips:
- Combine a competitive, secular word with a Christian word or phrase. Think of a secular term, such as “warrior,” that describes how you approach competition. Next, think of a common Christian word or phrase like “faith” or “blessed peace.” Using just those selections, your Christian team name could be “Faith Warriors,” “Blessed Peace Warriors,” “Warriors Of Faith,” or “Warriors With Blessed Peace.”
- Consider your favorite hymns, songs, and lyrics. Hymns, lyrics, and popular Christian songs can provide excellent sources of biblical words and phrases that will make great Christian team names. You may be able to use a lyric or title directly without making any changes, or you can add a descriptive word if it enhances the name. For example, Kari Jobe’s “Revelation Song” could become “Revelation Singers,” or you could use the title of her song “Heaven Invade” with no changes.
- Use your favorite Bible verses for inspiration. Thinking of words and phrases from your favorite Bible verses may inspire you to think of additional Christian team name choices, or you may prefer to create a name from the words and phrases you discover in your favorite verses. You could even use the name of the verse as your team name — for example, “Romans 8:28” or “8:28.”
