Singing groups provide opportunities to share beautiful music and heartfelt messages with the world, but the listener isn’t the only one who benefits.
Studies show that singing in a group can improve your own mood and reduce your stress.[1]
Some studies have even shown that singing in a group can regulate your heartbeat and improve symptoms of Parkinson’s and lung disease![2]
Beyond the benefits you’ll gain from singing in a group, an essential part of forming your group is finding the perfect name.
Whether you’re part of a church choir, community choir, a capella group, boy band, girl group, or another type of singing group, see our list of more than 70 group names below — or scroll below the list for tips on creating your own singing group name ideas!

Singing Group Name Generator
How to Create Your Own Singing Group Name
There are two ways you can name a singing group: by making a punny reference to music, or just by choosing a name that you think sounds cool!
Music-related names are great for things like school a capella groups or community choirs. In contrast, groups that want to break into the music business will want to choose a unique, catchy name that’s marketable to potential fans.
The type of group and its goals will be the largest factor in choosing your singing group name, but keep the following tips in mind as well:
- Choose a short name. In general, it’s best for music groups to use short names (usually three words or less). Longer names might lead to confusion when marketing your group’s performances or recordings; people might assume that your name is that of a movie or play rather than a singing group.
- Make it memorable. Ever had a song stuck in your head, but can’t remember the title or artist? While you can’t guarantee that every person who learns of your group will remember its name, the less ordinary the name, the more memorable it will be. It’s best to choose a clever, snappy name that will catch people’s attention and stick in their minds.
- Make sure it’s unique. Do a quick internet search to make sure there aren’t other groups using the same name — especially other groups in your area if you plan to perform locally. Sharing a name with another group will not only make your group seem unoriginal but may lead to legal trouble if you plan to publish songs or record any of your music.
