From the elite Persian force known as the Immortals to Japanese Samurai and medieval knights, there are tales of warriors in just about every culture and era of history.[1]
Men aren’t the only warriors that have conquered on the battlefield, either.
For example, Artemisia I of Caria served as a general during a war between ancient Persia and Greece.
Famed Viking Leif Ericcson’s sister Freydis also fought many battles, including some against indigenous people in North America.[2]
Whatever the purpose and make-up of your warrior team, choosing a great name can be motivational, help build a sense of community, and (of course) intimidate your enemies.

How to Create Your Own Warrior Team Names
Use the following tips to brainstorm your own list of warrior team names and find the perfect fit for your team.
You might even want to put the final choice to a vote if you’re stuck between several options!
- Call upon warrior history. Throughout history, there have been numerous wars and legendary warrior groups. Do a bit of research on your favorite historical warrior groups or war-related terms in general for inspiration. You can craft a unique team name from an obscure part of history or just choose something that fascinates your team!
- Get the team involved. Everyone has different inspirations, interests, and knowledge. By taking suggestions directly from team members, you can develop a wider range of options than you may find on your own. Have each team member submit one or more ideas, then whittle those options down into a list of favorites.
- Think broadly. You don’t necessarily need to use words like “warrior” or “knight” in your name. Terms that are general and not specific to warrior culture can be just as powerful! Try creating a list of words that make your team feel strong and inspired.
